This project was previously done in semi mechanized way by previous vendors and the time period for completion was around one month time, in which the company had to take shutdown of the cooling towers which resulted in time, resources and most importantly Cost and production loss Factor. We executed this job in the following methodology, which gave us appreciations and tremendous results in terms of Time, cost and resources saving, also now this method is being used since then by the industry as we completed the project within a week’s time.

Cleaning in record time at Asia’s Largest Cooling Tower – Reliance Industries, Hazira
Project Summary
We did not take the shutdown of the entire cooling tower but cleaning on cell by cell basis. Dewatering of the basin to lower the water content was a continuous process.
We used heavy duty truck mounted Vacuum Suction machine (super sucker) with hydraulic operated hopper having capacity of 20kl to suck the sludge from the basin into the hopper directly.
We used our Truck mounted Jetting machine having 2000 psi to dislodge and mix the sludge with water to convert it in slurry form so that it could be sucked by the super sucker.
Both the process was executed simultaneously which resulted in completion of cleaning in hours for each cell rather than days. We had deputed 6 super sucker and 2 jetting machine to execute this job on round the clock basis.
Added advantage was that since the sludge was transferred directly from basin into the hopper due to which there was no chance of spillage either near the site or on the roads during transportation to dump yard.
This methodology resulted in saving of Housekeeping work near the site and roads on daily basis resulting in saving of man days along with most important aspect of adhering to GPCB compliance of Environmental hazards.
